Ethics and professionalism are accepted as the foundation that underpins the practitioner’s work and practice. While these principles have a Hippocratic origin, they have been developed and articulated for modern times. Health care practitioners have a fiduciary duty to their patient, their profession and society at large.
These modules provide practitioners with insight and skills in advocating for an ethical approach to patient care and professional endeavors. They explore developing reflective skills and applying deductive reasoning and the ability to apply ethical principles to everyday decision making.
Each module features a “small group – large group” discussion format. Specific table tasks are provided for participants to discuss in groups of 3 to 6 which are then brought to the room as a whole. These table tasks are specific questions on ethical scenarios which drive the content and objectives for the module.
I – ETHICS OF HEALTH CARE (The Principles of Professionalism)

II – ETHICS OF TOUCH: BOUNDARY SETTING AND MAINTENANCE

III – PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Explore strategies to reduce risk for professional misconduct
At the conclusion of each module, participants are given a reflective take-home assignment to further facilitate their application on the principles of professionalism.

Stuard Kinsinger, DC, MA Brief Bio : Dr. Stuart Kinsinger brings over forty years of experience as a licensed medical professional, alongside a comprehensive background in teaching, which started in his internship year. His career includes significant contributions to medical ethics, particularly through committee work with his regulatory college and leading workshops in ethics and boundaries across Canada, the United States, and the UK for both faculty and practitioners. He has delivered numerous presentations at professional conferences and gatherings, including for the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities, the Academy for Professionalism in Health Care, and the Association of Chiropractic College’s Research Agenda Conference. Dr. Kinsinger holds an advanced degree in Bioethics and Health Policy from Loyola University, Chicago. This education, combined with his extensive professional experience, underpins his expertise in medical ethics and professionalism. |
