Expanding the Toolbox: Hands-On Workshop in Non-HVLA Chiropractic Techniques
Dr. Michael Fiscella
This immersive weekend workshop is designed for chiropractors seeking to broaden their clinical skill set by incorporating low-force, non-HVLA (high-velocity, low-amplitude) adjusting techniques into their practice. Through hands-on instruction and practical application, participants will explore a variety of evidence-informed approaches such as instrument-assisted adjusting, mobilization, soft tissue techniques, and gentle positional methods.
Non-HVLA techniques offer numerous clinical advantages, particularly for patients who may not tolerate traditional thrust adjustments, including pediatric, geriatric, post-surgical, or chronic pain populations. These methods can improve patient comfort, enhance outcomes, and provide clinicians with a more individualized approach to care.
Participants will leave the seminar with a deeper understanding of the indications, benefits, and application of non-HVLA techniques, along with increased confidence in offering patient-centered care to diverse populations.
By the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Explain and demonstrate a range of non-HVLA soft tissue adjustment techniques including ischemic compression, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobility, positional release, and adjunctive modalities such as laser therapy, cupping, and acupuncture.
- Apply non-HVLA approaches in clinical scenarios involving common orthopedic conditions of the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and pelvic/hip regions through hands-on practice and case-based learning.
