Alpha-Gal Syndrome: What Healthcare Providers Need to Know and Do
A growing number of patients are walking into clinics with mysterious reactions—delayed hives, GI distress, unexplained inflammation, sudden allergic episodes, even anaphylaxis—often with no clear cause. Many of them have already seen multiple providers. Most are still undiagnosed.

Alpha-Gal Syndrome (AGS) is no longer rare—and it’s being missed every day.
This in-depth, 8-hour clinical seminar is designed for healthcare professionals who want to stay ahead of an emerging, life-altering condition that is especially prevalent in tick-dense regions like the Midwest. AGS is changing how food, medications, and immune responses must be evaluated, yet many clinicians have received little to no formal training on how to recognize or manage it.

This course moves beyond awareness and into real-world clinical application.
You’ll learn how AGS actually presents in practice, why symptoms are often delayed and misleading, how to identify hidden triggers, and how to interpret blood work with confidence. More importantly, you’ll gain practical strategies to help patients reduce reactions, improve quality of life, and avoid dangerous outcomes—while staying squarely within your professional scope.

This seminar includes a hands-on practical portion with diagnosis and acupunture points utilized for treatment.

Through case examples, clinical frameworks, and functional insights, this seminar equips healthcare providers to:
  • Recognize AGS earlier—before symptoms escalate
  • Ask better questions and uncover missed correlations
  • Understand testing and lab results without confusion
  • Educate patients clearly and effectively
  • Support long-term compliance and lifestyle adaptation
Participants will be introduced to evidence-informed acupuncture techniques that help support immune modulation, reduce inflammatory burden, and assist in mitigating symptom reactions associated with Alpha-Gal Syndrome.

With hundreds of thousands of Americans potentially affected—and numbers continuing to rise—Alpha-Gal Syndrome is becoming a condition every clinician must understand, regardless of specialty.

If your patients live, work, or recreate outdoors…
If you practice in a region with high tick exposure…
If you see chronic, unexplained inflammatory or allergic patterns…

This course will change how you evaluate and support your patients.

Douglas Meyer, DC

Brief Bio : Since 1999, Dr. Doug Meyer has been a dedicated partner in health for the Hermann and Montgomery City communities. His journey began with a simple but powerful desire: to help people live life to their fullest capacity, naturally. Today, that mission is driven by a personal mantra that guides his practice and his life: 'Be the good you want to see in the world.' A Mission of Measurable Change Dr. Meyer believes that healthcare is a partnership, not a cycle of codependency. His goal isn’t just to provide relief, but to make measurable changes that allow patients to regain control of their own health. He is passionate about teaching people how to understand their bodies—knowing when there is a problem that needs to be addressed and how to maintain wellness long-term. Through the years, he has remained in awe of the power of Acupuncture and clinical nutrition. It brings him great joy to help couples navigating fertility issues, see neuropathy patients finally feel their feet again, or help individuals overcome chronic allergies and inflammation. The Road to Chiropractic & Nutrition Born and raised in Washington, MO, Dr. Meyer grew up playing football and basketball. Witnessing injuries firsthand sparked his interest in medicine. During a health occupation course in high school, he shadowed everything from ER medicine to orthopedic surgery. While he was initially accepted into a fast-track Medical Doctor (MD) program, his heart shifted during pre-med at Truman State University. He realized he wanted to help people thrive without the use of drugs or surgeries. He chose Logan University, where he was always found taking extra courses to expand his 'tool kit.' After graduating in 1999 with a degree in Chiropractic and Acupuncture, he opened Meyer Chiropractic, Acupuncture & Nutrition. His dedication has taken him globally, including extensive training in China and Korea, ensuring his patients have access to world-class care right here at home. Mentorship & Growing the Profession Dr. Meyer is deeply committed to the next generation of healthcare providers. He finds great fulfillment in mentoring interns of all ages and welcoming students to shadow him. He is incredibly proud of hometown Montgomery City 'kid' Hannah Schroer, who graduated from Mizzou with honors and is currently a Logan University student in the class of 2028. Seeing students like Hannah pursue their passion for chiropractic care is one of the most rewarding aspects of his career.
