A Multimodal Approach to Chronic Low Back Pain


Chronic low back pain is a leading cause of disability worldwide. The principles for the management of this patient demographic will be reviewed in this course leading to immediate application of the information once the clinician returns to the office. Current research trends in lifestyle, nutrition, flexibility, and stability exercises will be taught with a combination of didactic and hands on principles. Yellow flags and special consideration in approaching the chronic low back pain patient will also be discussed.
 
Attendees will: 
Understand the global impact and significance of chronic low back pain on society
Develop awareness of the special concerns in dealing with the chronic low back pain patient
Learn lifestyle and dietary modifications as a component of the multimodal approach to management of chronic low back pain
Learn the evidenced based exercises for endurance, mobility, and stability of the lumbopelvic hip complex
Develop the skills to differentially diagnose stability vs. mobility issues in the chronic low back pain patient
