The Evolution of Pelvic Floor Management in a Chiropractic Setting


Assessing and diagnosing pelvic floor conditions appropriately in a chiropractic office is often the missing link associated with stubborn low back, pelvic or hip pain. Learn the basics of pelvic floor dysfunction, associated symptoms, an appropriate pelvic health screening, treatment basics and when to refer to another healthcare provider. Management of pelvic floor symptoms during exercise will also be addressed, specifically regarding running and strength training.
 
Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Understand the prevalence of pelvic floor disorders and the general functions of the pelvic floor.
2. Identify pelvic floor symptoms associated with common conditions, such as urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.
3. Learn to develop a differential diagnosis by using a pelvic health subjective questionnaire and objective assessment.
4. Understand different treatment in-office approaches for urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.
5. Learn how to support and manage pelvic floor concerns during exercise, specifically running and strength training.

Brief Bio : Dr. Sarah Tirimacco was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She graduated with honors from The University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and obtained her Doctor of Chiropractic from New York College of Chiropractic. As co-owner of Pinnacle Hill Chiropractic, she provides quality chiropractic and wellness care, including pregnant and postpartum patients, athletes, and their families in the Rochester community. She is specialty trained as a pregnancy chiropractor and has extensive training in postpartum care.
